My agent has just recently ask me if I had any sample work of a certain style for a project, and although I didn't have any commissioned work I sent them this two personal projects.

One is an invitation card for my birthday (Battersea power station, near where I live, and the bull ... well, I am Spanish), the other one is for my baseball team's night out (Croydon Pirates) ,our season is over.... Go Pirates!!

Digital advertising campaign for Specsavers

This is part of latest illustration work I've done for Specsavers new campaign appearing all over the London Underground and train stations at the moment. They appear in more than 200 sites as Cross track animations, LCD and posters - loads of fun to do.

There are 4 of them, I'm still chasing one showing Trafalgar square and the Nelson colum, but that's the one they've done the least amount of posters and only as static so hard to find.

Here is one of the latest illustrations I created. I'm sure loads of people that live in a big city feel like that at 8am in the morning on their way to work. The same illustration in landscape was used for an online magazine for creatives as their landing page.

I've been very, very busy doing some great work for Specsavers (soon to be seen) so I've not been doing much else, but now that the project is finish I'll be able to post more work here. :)

Once again I had a bit of a play with Cinema 4D. I am getting more used to this program but still only know 1% of it ..... ok, the illustration is a bit rough on the edges, but a lot of fun to do.

Here I created that closet monster that I know exist in our bedroom (and by the way, I also took that picture on the wall)

I ask them to pose for a second in front of a backdrop - here I was lucky enough to get this really cool looking Devil, and he even gave me his autograph.

Maggies Cancer Caring Centres

Here is an illustration that I've done for a new project, Memories in aid of Maggie's Centres, a UK based cancer charity.

I was given the story of a cancer patient and was asked to illustrate it to go into a book with others. In my illustration I wanted to show the different journeys she had to go through during her fight against cancer, and how starting a family gave new meaning to life that helped her on the way. Memories will be released in the summer of 2010 along with the launch of an exhibition in London.

Here is one of my latest illustrations I've done. It can be a scary world for kids in the dark, all the shapes from the 'evil bears' and the big giants grabbing you and moving you around ... There is no escape.

Ok, so it is very scary, there is something wrong with the eyes (something definitely with the eyes), the mouth, the ears ...... I'm probably going to have nightmares after this, but this my first attempt at making a human face on Cinema 4D.

I have to admit that it has gone very wrong, and I reached a point where I didn't have a clue how to fix things and the more I tried the weirder the poor guy got. Either way I should still see it as a good thing, at least it looks a tiny bit like a human head, reminds me of my old boss ;)

I think I'll stick to aliens and robots for the time being.

CGI future section

I am working hard to have enough stuff to show as CGI on my website. I think in a couple of months I will be able to offer that service and hopefully 'wow' a few people ...... ok, maybe not wow to start with, but I hope to get a 'nice' out of it.

I really like that type of 'illustration' and animation - trying to keep my stlye but in a more 3D way as they say.

I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

The Ipad

I admit it, I am a big big fan of everythign Mac ... a Mac-oholic you can say (if it wasn't because my wife already named her cat Mitz I would have called him Mac). But what's all the big fuzz about the Ipad, Isn't an Ipad at the moment just an oversize Iphone for people who can't see very well? ;)

I think it came out a bit too soon, I know it will grow and develop and in a year or two I will be one of those buying it, but until I can use my beloved photoshop, illustrator and Cinema 4D on it I am going to stick to my iphone and my Macbook.

I do have to say it is very sleek!!!

I'm not in a pessimistic mood today - actually I am having a good day after catching up with a friend last night and putting the world to right over a few beers. But this is an illustration I did a while ago that I've had seating on my computer and since I like it I thought it would be a shame not to post it here. I know it’s a bit sad, but I find it nice to look at ... It’s feels like a ‘happy resignation’ (if there is such thing)

Well, after a short Xmas break back at home in Spain, it’s time to get back to work – clean the dust of the mac and sharpen the pencils (or wacom pen). Who needs an illustration?!! ;)

It's been a tough/difficult year with more downs than ups but it's over..... I’m now ready for 2010 and got the feeling it is going to be a good year - and if it's not, I will make it a good year (that's my new year resolution).

This is my first 'non-metallic' character created on Cinema 4D. I'm happy to say it follows a bit the style of some of my other illustrations done in photoshop. I take breaks from teaching myself C4D to create little characters like this - it's all good to learn all the basics from the start but every now and then I need to close the book and try things with the program to keep me motivated ....... and have some fun with it.

Here is a little animation I've done of the lamp I created - this one I've called it 'A lamp with an attitude'. I admit it, is simple but is my first animation on Cinema 4D. I still haven't master the Program, got way to go, but I was tempted to see if I could 'make something move' :)

This is my first attempt doing a character on Cinema 4D and I wanted to share it with everyone.

I am sure I will get much better but quite happy with this little fellow being that is the first one . It is a personal project (learning Cinema 4D so practice makes perfect) but the robot is based on one of the 27 robot 2D illustration I've done for a client recently.

Busy London

I've been living here in London for 10 years now (how did that happen?) and I am still amazed about how crazy and busy it gets when it rains ... you would think that people would be used to it. People seem to lose all sense of direction and of order, eveyone bumps into each other - and their umbrellas. And going with my scooter to work is not the most pleasant of things (well, it's better than being on the tube).

Here is an illustration of how I see it - I can't wait till the sun comes out (in about 8 months )

I have to say I'm not one of the biggest fans of google's different logos - I see the point and think some of them are very clever but I read an article where the illustrators that do it don't get paid a penny, which I think it's unfair. Either way I am not ashamed to say that I am enjoying the latest ones ... perhaps is because it reminds me of my childhood ....... Ahhhh, the cookie monster!!!

Well, people say I am a bit competitive (ask my wife Lisa ..... although I think she lets me win most of the time) and it show on my first attempt at Flash ... I won!!!!. :)

Ok I admit it, is not very exciting or complicated but it's a start no? Eventually I will be able to make some simple animations of my illustrations on flash (Cinema 4D is going to take me loads, loads longer).

Good on me!!

Killer Meatballs

Cinema 4D

I've started to learn Cinema 4D, - for those that don't know the progam, is a 3D rendering application (like Maya and such).

I don't know how to do anything yet (the few illustrations I've done are very basic ... like a stappler (wow!!! you say) but I already love this program. It is amazing..... the posibilities!!!

The program itself is very, very complicated, but persistance is the key, I think in 3 or 4 months of learning I'll be able to do some cool things, which obviously I will post here. Can't wait to do a 3D character!!!!!

Once I've mastered the modeling and all that ..... the next step will be to animate them!!
